What Karakeep is built for
Karakeep stores more than links — notes, images and PDFs alongside bookmarks — and uses an LLM to tag and summarize what you save. It adds full-text and experimental semantic search, OCR on images, nested and smart lists, RSS auto-saving, and apps for iOS and Android.
Self-hosting or Cloud
Self-hosting is free under AGPL-3.0 and runs as a web app plus a headless Chrome container and Meilisearch; AI features need your own OpenAI key or a local model via Ollama. Karakeep Cloud has a free tier of 10 bookmarks and a Pro plan at $4/month or $40/year with 50,000 bookmarks and AI tagging included.
